The congregation of the landmark Christ Lutheran Church in Highfields, Queensland, undertook a major restoration project with the aid of an LLL Special Ministry Grant.
The historic church is a much-loved feature of the small town, situated just north of Toowoomba, with its bell tower, erected in 1887, a visual highlight.

Appreciating the church's importance to the local community, the congregation commissioned the repair and repainting of the bell tower and church exterior, as well as the adjacent church hall.
The electrical rewiring and renovation of toilet amenities also undertaken as part of the project ensure the church will continue to be an inviting and accessible place of worship for the community and a wonderful feature of the town.

A lasting legacy
It was a large undertaking, but Michael Gierke, Chairman of Christ Lutheran Church, said it was a vital project to ensure a lasting legacy.
"Our beautiful old bell tower now looks so refreshed in her new paint," Michael said.
"The valuable contribution to our overall restoration project by LLL Australia is most welcome and we thank you from the bottom of our humble hearts for this Grant."
If your congregation has a project, big or small, that would benefit with the support of an LLL Grant we'd like to hear about it at [email protected].
